CBD exploded onto the wellness scene promising relief for anxiety, pain, and insomnia. But does the science support these claims?
The Endocannabinoid-Sleep System
CBD does not bind directly to CB1 receptors like THC. Instead, it modulates the endocannabinoid system indirectly, reducing anxiety and promoting homeostasis.
Clinical Evidence
A 2019 case series found that 66% of patients taking 25mg CBD daily reported better sleep within the first month. However, these were anxiety patients, and benefits may stem from reduced anxiety.
Effective Dosing
25-75mg of full-spectrum CBD oil, taken sublingually 1 hour before bed. Full-spectrum products with trace THC show better results than CBD isolate.
Regulatory Concerns
A 2020 study found 26% of CBD products contained less CBD than labeled. Look for third-party tested products with COAs matching lot numbers.
